Efficient Loading Patterns
Place heaviest items (concrete, dirt, heavy lumber) on the bottom first. Stand flat materials — plywood, drywall, sheet metal — vertically along the sides. Break down large items before loading: disassemble furniture, cut lumber to fit. Fill voids and gaps with smaller debris as you go, and walk into the dumpster periodically to compact and rearrange for maximum density. Load evenly from front to back to maintain balanced weight distribution. Never stack anything above the fill line — haulers will refuse pickup or charge overage fees.
Weight Distribution & Limits
Weight limits are strictly enforced. Overweight containers incur surcharges and may be refused for pickup entirely. Concrete, brick, and dirt hit weight limits long before volume limits — request a "heavy debris" dumpster with reinforced floors for masonry and soil loads. Distribute heavy items across the full length of the container rather than concentrating them in one area. Refer to the size guide table above for weight limits by container size.
Prohibited Items & Swap Scheduling
Loading prohibited materials results in rejected loads, contamination fees, and potential service termination. Prohibited items include: hazardous waste, chemicals, paint, solvents, oil, tires (unless pre-arranged at additional cost), automotive and lithium-ion batteries, Freon-containing appliances, medical waste, asbestos, and radioactive materials. Schedule dumpster swaps proactively — do not wait until the container is full to call. Coordinate swap timing with project milestones to minimize downtime, and keep the area around the dumpster clear for safe pickup and delivery.
