Required Labor Law Postings

HR Policies

Federal and Minnesota law require every employer to display certain notices where employees can see them. These posters spell out your legal rights — minimum wage, safety, anti-discrimination, unemployment, workers' compensation, sick time, and paid leave — and who to call if those rights are not honored.

The physical copies hang on the notice board at the shop. Most of our crews work in the field and may go weeks without walking past that wall, so this page is the company's digital copy of every required posting, available to all employees — field crews, seasonal hires, and anyone working remotely. Each entry below links directly to the official current version from the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), OSHA, the EEOC, or the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (MN DLI), so the wording you read here is always the government's own.

Last verified: September 4, 2026 (links re-checked against the MN DLI and agency pages). Agencies revise these posters from time to time — if a link looks outdated, tell the owner.

Federal Postings — Fair Labor Standards Act (Minimum Wage)

What it tells you: the federal minimum wage, overtime rules (1.5x after 40 hours), child-labor limits, tip rules, and nursing-mother break rights under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

Applies to: every employee. All field crew members are non-exempt and covered. Note that Minnesota's minimum wage is higher than the federal rate — the higher rate always wins, so see the Minnesota Minimum Wage poster below for the number that actually applies to your paycheck.

Official poster: [FLSA Minimum Wage poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/legacy/files/minwagep.pdf) · [DOL FLSA poster page — Spanish and other translations](https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/posters/flsa)

Federal Postings — OSHA "Job Safety and Health: It's the Law"

What it tells you: you have the right to a safe workplace, to receive safety training in a language you understand, to report an injury or unsafe condition without retaliation, and to request an OSHA inspection.

Applies to: every employee. Minnesota runs its own OSHA-approved state plan (MNOSHA), so the Minnesota "Safety and Health Protection on the Job" poster (below) is the one that must physically hang at the shop — the federal version is provided here for reference because it explains the same rights.

Official poster: [OSHA poster page — English and Spanish downloads](https://www.osha.gov/publications/poster)

Federal Postings — EEOC "Know Your Rights: Workplace Discrimination is Illegal"

What it tells you: it is illegal to discriminate in hiring, pay, promotion, or firing based on race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity), national origin, age (40+), disability, or genetic information — and how to file a charge with the EEOC.

Applies to: required for employers with 15 or more employees; the company displays it regardless, because our Equal Opportunity policy applies to every hire at any headcount.

Official poster: [EEOC "Know Your Rights" poster — English, Spanish, and other languages](https://www.eeoc.gov/poster)

Federal Postings — Employee Polygraph Protection Act (EPPA)

What it tells you: private employers generally cannot require or request a lie-detector test as a condition of employment, and cannot discipline you for refusing one.

Applies to: every employee. The company does not use polygraph testing.

Official poster: [EPPA poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/legacy/files/eppac.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/legacy/files/eppaspan.pdf) · [DOL poster page](https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/posters/eppa)

Federal Postings — USERRA (Military Leave & Reemployment Rights)

What it tells you: if you leave for military service — active duty, Guard, or Reserve — you have the right to return to your job with the seniority, status, and pay you would have earned, and you cannot be discriminated against because of that service.

Applies to: every employee, at any employer size.

Official poster: [USERRA "Your Rights Under USERRA" poster — English and Spanish](https://www.dol.gov/agencies/vets/programs/userra/poster)

Federal Postings — FMLA (Conditional: 50+ Employees)

Conditional posting. The federal Family and Medical Leave Act poster is required only for employers with 50 or more employees. The company is currently below that threshold, so this poster is not legally required at the shop today. It is listed here so the owner can add it the moment headcount crosses 50, and so crews understand why the FMLA section on the Attendance & Leave page describes eligibility rules that may not yet apply here.

What it tells you (when it applies): eligible employees may take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for a serious health condition, a new child, or a family member's serious illness.

Official poster: [FMLA poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/legacy/files/fmlaen.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/WHD/legacy/files/fmlasp.pdf) · [DOL poster page](https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/posters/fmla)

Federal Postings — E-Verify & Right to Work (Conditional: E-Verify Participants Only)

Conditional posting. The "E-Verify Participation" and "Right to Work" notices are required only if the company enrolls in E-Verify, the federal electronic employment-eligibility system. The company completes Form I-9 for every new hire as the law requires; enrollment in E-Verify is a separate, voluntary step for a private employer of this size. If the owner enrolls, both notices must go up in English and Spanish where applicants can see them.

What they tell you (when they apply): the employer checks work authorization electronically, what your rights are if the system flags a mismatch, and that you cannot be fired or refused a job because of a tentative nonconfirmation while you resolve it.

Minnesota Postings — Where the Official List Lives

The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry maintains the authoritative list of state-required posters and updates it whenever Minnesota law changes. Every Minnesota poster linked below comes from that page, and MN DLI offers the seven state-mandated posters as a single free poster pack in English, Spanish, Hmong, and Somali.

Authoritative source: [MN DLI — Workplace posters (required list, downloads, and update sign-up)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/posters)

One-file download: [Minnesota required poster pack — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/mn_poster_pack.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/mn_poster_pack_Spanish.pdf)

Minnesota Postings — Minnesota Minimum Wage

What it tells you: the current Minnesota minimum wage rates (adjusted for inflation every January 1), the training-wage and youth-wage rules, and how to file a wage claim with MN DLI. This is the rate that governs your paycheck because it is higher than the federal minimum.

Applies to: every employee.

Official poster: [MN Minimum Wage poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/minwage_poster.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/minwage_poster_Spanish.pdf)

Minnesota Postings — Safety and Health Protection on the Job (MNOSHA)

What it tells you: Minnesota OSHA enforces workplace safety in this state. You have the right to a safe worksite, to report hazards to MNOSHA, to see injury records, and to be free from retaliation for raising a safety concern. This is the state version of the federal OSHA poster and is the one that must hang at the shop.

Applies to: every employee.

Official poster: [MNOSHA Safety and Health Protection poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/mnosha_poster.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/mnosha_poster_spanish.pdf)

Minnesota Postings — Age Discrimination

What it tells you: under the Minnesota Human Rights Act it is illegal to refuse to hire, fire, or treat you differently because of your age (protection begins at 18 in Minnesota — broader than the federal 40+ rule), and how to contact the Minnesota Department of Human Rights.

Applies to: every employee.

Official poster: [MN Age Discrimination poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/agediscr_poster.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/agediscr_poster_spanish.pdf)

Minnesota Postings — Unemployment Insurance

What it tells you: if you lose your job or your hours are cut through no fault of your own — including a seasonal winter layoff — you may qualify for unemployment benefits, and how to apply through the Minnesota Unemployment Insurance program.

Applies to: every employee. Seasonal crew members on winter layoff should read this one closely; see the Seasonal Employment section on the Employment Policies page for how to request layoff documentation.

Official poster: [MN Unemployment Insurance poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/ui_poster.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/ui_poster_spanish.pdf) · [Apply or learn more at uimn.org](https://www.uimn.org/)

Minnesota Postings — Workers' Compensation

What it tells you: if you are injured on the job, your medical bills and a portion of lost wages are covered by the company's workers' compensation insurance — not your own health insurance — and you must report the injury to your employer promptly. The poster also lists the MN DLI Workers' Compensation Hotline.

Applies to: every employee, from your first hour of work.

Official poster: [MN Workers' Compensation poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/workerscomp_poster.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/workerscomp_poster_spanish.pdf)

The company's carrier name, policy number, and claims phone number are listed under Company-Specific Notices below.

Minnesota Postings — Earned Sick and Safe Time (ESST) — Notice Required, Poster Encouraged

What it tells you: every Minnesota employee — including seasonal and part-time — earns at least 1 hour of paid sick and safe time for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours a year, usable for your own illness, a sick family member, or safety needs related to domestic abuse, sexual assault, or stalking. The poster explains your right to use it without retaliation. In effect since January 1, 2024.

Posting status — informational, not required. MN DLI lists the ESST poster as encouraged but not mandatory. What the ESST law *does* require is a written notice to every employee at hire (in English and, on request, the employee's preferred language) and, because the company has a handbook, an ESST notice inside it — the Attendance & Leave page is that notice, and the signed onboarding wage notice covers the at-hire requirement. The company displays the poster on the shop board anyway as a courtesy.

Applies to: every employee (the law and the written-notice duty, not the poster).

Official poster: [MN ESST poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/esst_poster.pdf) · [ESST poster in other languages](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sick-leave-poster-languages) · [MN DLI ESST information](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sick-leave)

Minnesota Postings — Paid Leave (Paid Family & Medical Leave, 2026)

What it tells you: starting January 1, 2026, Minnesota's Paid Leave program provides partial wage replacement for family leave (bonding, caring for a seriously ill family member) and medical leave (your own serious health condition), funded by shared employer and employee premiums. The poster explains who is covered and how to apply.

Applies to: every employee. Required as of January 1, 2026. Minnesota requires this poster in English and in any language spoken by five or more employees. The company's PFML policy summary is on the Attendance & Leave page.

Official poster: [MN Paid Leave mandatory employer poster — English (PDF)](https://mn.gov/deed/assets/paid-leave-mandatory-employer-poster-acc_tcm1045-700342.pdf) · [Translated Paid Leave posters](https://dli.mn.gov/about-department/workplace-posters/paid-leave-translated-workplace-poster) · [Minnesota Paid Leave program site](https://paidleave.mn.gov/)

Minnesota Postings — Employer-Sponsored Meetings or Communications

What it tells you: under Minnesota law (in effect since 2023), you cannot be fired or disciplined for declining to attend an employer meeting, or to listen to employer communications, whose main purpose is to share the employer's opinion on religious or political matters — including whether to join a union. MN DLI lists this as a required poster for all employers.

Applies to: every employee.

Official poster: [MN Employer-Sponsored Meetings poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/meetings_poster.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/meetings_poster_Spanish.pdf)

Minnesota Postings — Encouraged & Conditional Minnesota Posters

MN DLI lists a few more posters that are either encouraged or only required for certain employers. They are included here so nothing on the state list is missing.

Women's Economic Security Act (WESA) — *Informational, not required.* Explains pregnancy accommodation, nursing-mother break rights, and pay-transparency protections. The company displays it anyway because these rights apply to our crews. [WESA poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/WESA_poster.pdf) · [Spanish (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/WESA_poster_Spanish.pdf)

Veterans Benefits and Services — *Conditional: required only for employers with more than 50 full-time employees* (since January 1, 2024). Not required at current headcount. [Veterans poster — English (PDF)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/veterans_poster.pdf)

Packinghouse Workers Bill of Rights — *Not applicable.* Only for meatpacking and poultry-processing employers; listed so the owner can confirm it was reviewed and skipped.

Company-Specific Notices — DATWA Drug & Alcohol Testing Policy

The Minnesota Drug and Alcohol Testing in the Workplace Act (DATWA, Minn. Stat. §§ 181.950–181.957) requires any employer that tests to have a written testing policy and to give every employee and job applicant a copy — and to post a notice of the policy in an appropriate and conspicuous location at the workplace.

How the company meets it: the written policy notice hangs on the shop notice board next to the government posters, every new hire signs an acknowledgment of the policy at onboarding, and the policy summary lives on the Employment Policies page (Background Checks & Drug Testing, and Post-Incident Drug & Alcohol Testing).

Applies to: all applicants and employees; random testing is limited to safety-sensitive positions as the law requires.

Company-Specific Notices — Wage Theft Prevention Notice (Wage Notice at Hire)

Minnesota's Wage Theft Prevention Act (Minn. Stat. § 181.032) requires the company to give every new employee a written wage notice at the start of employment, in English and in the employee's preferred language on request, and to have the employee sign it. The notice must state your rate(s) of pay and basis (hourly), whether you are exempt or non-exempt from overtime, your pay-period schedule and regularly scheduled payday, paid leave accrual (including ESST), any deductions, and the company's legal name, address, and phone number. The company must also give you written notice before any change to that information takes effect.

How the company meets it: you receive and sign the wage notice as part of your onboarding packet, and you receive an updated notice before any pay-rate change. Every paycheck also comes with an earnings statement (pay stub) in Gusto showing hours, rate, gross pay, deductions, and net pay as the same law requires. If you never received your wage notice, or your pay changed without written notice, tell the owner immediately.

Company-Specific Notices — Pay Period & Payday Notice

Minnesota requires employers to pay wages on a regular schedule of at least once every 31 days and to inform employees of their pay period and payday. The company's schedule, posted at the shop and repeated here:

- Pay period: Monday 12:01 AM through Sunday 11:59 PM, every week. - Payday: the Friday following the close of each pay period (a five-day processing window). - Bank holidays: if payday falls on a bank holiday, direct deposits process the preceding business day. - Timesheets due: Sunday 11:59 PM each week.

The full policy — timesheets, direct deposit, overtime, and the paycheck walkthrough — is on the [Payroll & Schedule](/payroll-schedule) page.

Company-Specific Notices — Workers' Compensation Carrier Information

Minnesota requires every employer to post the name of its workers' compensation insurance carrier and where to report an injury. The government poster above explains your rights; this notice tells you who our insurer is.

Owner to fill in:

- Insurance carrier: ________________________________ - Policy number: ________________________________ - Carrier claims phone: ________________________________ - Policy period: ________________________________

How to report an injury (all employees): report every on-the-job injury — no matter how minor — to your Crew Lead or the owner the same day. The owner files the First Report of Injury with the carrier. Emergency: call 911 first, then notify the owner. See the Safety pages for the full injury-reporting procedure.

Owner action required
  • Fill in the carrier name, policy number, claims phone, and policy period above from the current insurance certificate.
  • Update this notice and the shop board every time the policy renews or the carrier changes.
  • Until it is filled in, employees should report injuries directly to the owner, who has the carrier details on file.

Quick-Reference Table — All Required Postings at a Glance

One row per poster. "Shop board" means the main notice board at the shop that everyone passes on the way to the equipment bay. Conditional posters are marked so the owner can see at a glance what is and is not required at current headcount.

Owner's Posting Checklist

This page only works if the wall and the web page say the same thing. The owner (or a delegate) runs this checklist at every season start and whenever a poster update notice arrives.

Where to post: all required posters go on the shop notice board in the spot every employee passes on the way to clock in or pick up equipment — not in an office, a locked room, or behind a door. If a second yard or staging location ever opens, it needs its own full set. Posters must be readable (8.5" x 11" minimum, not faded, not covered).

When to replace: agencies publish revised posters when the law changes — Minnesota's minimum wage poster changes every January, and ESST and Paid Leave posters have been revised more than once. Replace the physical copy and re-check the link on this page within 30 days of any revision.

Update sources: [DOL poster advisor and update list](https://www.dol.gov/general/topics/posters) · [MN DLI workplace posters page (with e-mail update sign-up)](https://www.dli.mn.gov/posters) · [EEOC poster page](https://www.eeoc.gov/poster) · [OSHA poster page](https://www.osha.gov/publications/poster)

Owner posting checklist — not legal advice
  • Post every required federal and Minnesota poster on the shop board where all employees pass; add a full set at any additional yard or site office.
  • Sign up for MN DLI and DOL poster update notices; replace a poster within 30 days of a published revision and update the link on this page.
  • Re-check the conditional items (FMLA, E-Verify, Veterans) whenever headcount changes or the company enrolls in a new program.
  • Keep this page in sync with the wall: if a poster is added, removed, or revised at the shop, update the matching entry here and bump the 'Last verified' date in the introduction.
  • Fill in and keep current the workers' compensation carrier notice above.
  • This page is a compliance aid prepared by the company, not legal advice. Poster requirements change; always verify the current versions with the U.S. DOL, EEOC, OSHA, and MN DLI, and consult an employment attorney with questions about which requirements apply.
